- Person 1 - is a big sinner, almost a "man of the beast", who does not even try to be good. If he is lost, most people think that is OK.
- Person 2 - represents ordinary people, who in themselves try to do as well as they can. Unfortunately that is not enough. History shows us that not a single Jew in 1400 years managed to keep all of Gods commandments in their own strength. And the Pharisees who outwardly appeared to have been the most successful, became even more evil on the inside. Their egotism simple took on a different form as self-satisfaction, here represented by the wavy lines.
- Person 3 - used to be a great sinner, but he repented. The cross shows us that since then it is the Christ nature which does battle with egotism. Thus he does not have any reason for pride in what happens.
